Former West Brom boss Tony Mowbray was among the crowd at Ewood Park as Albion ground out a point against rivals Blackburn Rovers in a low-quality relegation six-pointer. He was watching two of his former clubs.
A bumper following of 7,500 Albion fans saw Aune Heggebo rattle the crossbar, leaving a sense of what might have been. That was as close as Albion came to a winner.
It is a year to the day since Mowbray was sacked as Albion boss, their play-off hopes having evaporated after defeats to Coventry and Derby.
His short-lived second spell at the club ended only days before the season finished. He has also been seen at Middlesbrough matches, another of his former sides as player and manager.
Mowbray led Albion to the Premier League, and he enjoyed success at Blackburn as they returned to the Championship.
His last job was in the Championship with Albion, and he has yet to return to the dugout.
