Fortaleza respond to Boca’s bid for Adam Bareiro: will the transfer happen?

In the last few hours, Boca Juniors received Fortaleza's response to the offer they made for their forward, Adam Bareiro. The Xeneize management had offered to buy the entire transfer rights that the Brazilian team shares with River Plate.

The team from La Ribera received a negative response from the directors of the Ceará team, which plays in the second tier of Brazilian football. According to reports, the club's sporting director, Marcelo Delgado, who is leading the negotiations, received the unfavorable response.

Fortaleza rejected the offer made by Boca to acquire 100% of the rights of the 29-year-old Paraguayan forward. The offer was 3 million dollars, which had to be divided equally with River, as both have the same percentage of his rights.

Under these terms, Bareiro would continue in Brazil.

The Brazilians want to receive 2 million for their 50% of the rights of the player born in Asunción, Paraguay. Therefore, the Xeneize would have to increase their offer and put up about 4 million dollars to buy the entire rights. It is worth mentioning that the Millonario has no influence and must accept what is decided between the other two clubs.

Until when does Boca have time

The Xeneize management will have until Friday, February 20, to reach an agreement with their Brazilian counterparts if they want to finalize Bareiro's arrival. That day is the deadline to register the player.

It is worth remembering that this extension in the transfer window was obtained due to Rodrigo Battaglia's injury. The midfielder underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon and will not be able to play throughout the season, which opened up this new opportunity to sign a player.
