According to The Athletic, Wolves are currently valued at £280 million to £310 million, a figure that could fall if relegation is confirmed.

Fosun are not thought to be rushing a sale. The Chinese owners previously rejected an approach from John Textor earlier this season and are instead seeking a minority investor rather than a full exit.

Finances will be under intense scrutiny in January. It is a window the club need to handle well, whether to aid survival or to plan for an immediate promotion that could help protect value.

The report characterised survival from here as close to miraculous and noted that a drop into the Championship can seriously damage a club’s valuation.

Fosun bought the Old Gold for £45 million in 2016. If Wolves fail to return to the top flight over the next few years, their price could slide towards that level.
