Barcelona’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has become one of the biggest talking points of the summer, and club officials are clearly unimpressed with how the situation has been handled in the Spanish capital.
The latest chapter in the growing tension between the two clubs came after Atletico Madrid published a series of social media posts mocking Barcelona’s reported interest in the Argentine forward.
The posts featured edited images of players such as Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Pedri wearing Atletico shirts, accompanied by humorous messages that attracted attention across Spanish football.
While the posts generated plenty of reactions online, they did not go down well at Barcelona.
Speaking publicly about the controversy, interim Barcelona president Rafa Yuste made it clear that he viewed Atletico’s actions as crossing a line and failing to reflect the standards expected between two major clubs.

Addressing the situation, Yuste did not hide his disappointment with Atletico Madrid’s approach.
“The truth is that I found those comments to be in very poor taste, but we must focus on what we do as a club.
“Good manners come first and we must set an example, from the president right down to the last member of the board,” he said, according to AS.
Despite the online exchanges, Yuste stressed that Barcelona’s sporting department remains fully focused on its transfer plans.

The club has no intention of allowing outside noise to influence decisions being made ahead of the new season.
“At Barcelona, we have a very clear way of operating. Our sporting policy remains unchanged. Deco is very clear about his sporting plans and will stick to them.”
Lastly, the acting president was also asked to share his opinion on the presidential election at Real Madrid, to which he said,
“We are entirely focused on what we are doing.”
