One of the biggest decisions Liam Rosenior is going to have to make tomorrow is who to play at centre back.

Trevoh Chalobah is a lock. But with Wesley Fofana out injured, there’s no clear third choice.

This sort of sums up the issue in the team building of this squad – there are a lot of good defenders, but no outstanding defenders – especially when Fofana and Levi Colwill are out.

So who are the options? And who will Rosenior pick?

Tosin is the obvious choice – he’s tall and theoretically well-suited to stop Arsenal’s set piece assault. He’s experienced compared to the other options. But he’s also just not very good, not very reliable, and hasn’t played well this season.

Then there’s Josh Acheampong. He’s super talented, with so much quality technically and physically. But he’s inexperienced, and his form has been shaky when he’s in the team this season.

Benoit Badiashile has great days and terrible days. He should be the man stepping up here, but his last appearance was against West Ham, where he was hauled off at half time. Over several years at Chelsea, he’s never shown the consistency we need.

Finally there’s Mamadou Sarr. He’s the wildcard – he’s never started a Premier League game and this would seem a crazy moment to throw him in. But when you consider the weaknesses of the options above, it’s not totally impossible, given how well Rosenior knows him from their time at Strasbourg.
