With a convincing win over FC Copenhagen last night, FC Barcelona have secured themselves a place in the top eight of the UEFA Champions League’s league phase. A top priority for Hansi Flick’s side, they ultimately managed to deliver the performance that was needed.
However, with that objective out of the way, the Catalan giants must look ahead. The next step for them would be the Round of 16, a stage for which they have directly qualified, but their opponents are yet to be decided.
As it stands, there are four possible opponents that Flick’s side could face in the next round. Confirmed by SPORT, the four potential opponents include Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle United, Monaco, and Qarabag.
To decide which team they will eventually end up facing, a draw will take place to confirm the matchups coming up ahead. Once that happens, one of the victors from the two play-off games, which include the four aforementioned teams, will be the team to take on La Blaugrana.
For now, Barcelona can take a step back from the Champions League and focus on their domestic objectives for the time being. After all, almost the entirety of February will be dedicated solely to the play-off games, and only once they are concluded will the Spanish side know for certain which opponent they end up facing.
