Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Best of the Bees

A second Premier League win in a row saw Liverpool added to Brentford’s impressive list of recent home scalps.

In the process of inflicting a fourth-successive defeat on the champions, the Bees were able to collect eight shots on target and seven Opta-defined big chances.

Once again, a long Michael Kayode (£4.5m) throw-in caused chaos, finding its way to Dango Ouattara (£6.0m) for the opener via a Kristoffer Ajer (£4.4m) flick.

Mikkel Damsgaard’s (£5.8m) long-range effort forced a brilliant save and, soon after, his superb through ball allowed Kevin Schade (£7.0m) to outpace Ibrahima Konaté (£5.4m) and calmly make it 2-0.

Liverpool quickly halved the lead, but Brentford scored again on the hour when Igor Thiago (£6.2m) rolled his penalty home. It came from a foul on Ouattara, whose assist ensured he secured the Bees’ biggest points total (11).

Furthermore, defensive contribution (DefCon) rewards were handed out to Nathan Collins (£4.9m), Sepp van den Berg (£4.5m) and Vitaly Janelt (£4.9m).

The Spotlight

Ouattara’s latest two starts have brought very high involvement, where nine shots inside the box included four huge efforts. Yet, Thiago’s numbers have been even better.

The Brazilian racked up 10 and six of these came across the West Ham and Liverpool victories.

Not too many FPL forwards are their club’s spot-kick takers and, at a time when many managers are giving up on João Pedro (£7.5m) and Viktor Gyökeres (£9.0m), here is a cheaper replacement who sits third over the season for attempts inside the box (20) and shots on target (12).

Only Erling Haaland (£14.7m) can better his six goals.

Best of the Rest

Meanwhile, Gameweek 9’s final match caused large rises and falls, as Micky van de Ven (£4.7m), one of FPL’s highest-owned defenders, netted twice and kept out Everton to secure a 23-point haul.

It ranks amongst the biggest single-match FPL scores ever recorded by someone in this position.

Fellow defender Matty Cash (£4.6m) bagged the winner in Aston Villa’s 1-0 victory against Manchester City.

Joining him on 15 points was Manchester United duo Casemiro (£5.5m) and Bryan Mbeumo (£8.1m), as the Red Devils reversed their previously poor record against Brighton.

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s imperious backline kept a third-consecutive clean sheet.

In Demand

Speaking of Mbeumo, he’s currently the most-bought player heading into Gameweek 10, as United seem to have turned a corner and are about to face struggling Nottingham Forest.

Then, the next four popular purchases are all forwards – Thiago, Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.7m), Nick Woltemade (£7.5m) and Danny Welbeck (£6.4m).

Quite simply, João Pedro and Gyökeres owners are losing patience, as both have blanked on their last five outings.

The latter is at least accumulating some shots. He and Arsenal are about to visit Burnley: the leakiest defence when it comes to conceding chances.

Captaincy

That’s why putting the armband on an Arsenal attacker immediately stands out, but Gyökeres is out of form and Bukayo Saka’s (£10.0m) minutes may be being managed, as seen at home to Crystal Palace.

Haaland is fresh from a very rare blank, and about to enter a tricky encounter against second-placed Bournemouth.

Therefore, those looking to gain serious ground on their mini-league rivals could use Gameweek 10 to captain someone more maverick, like a United midfielder or even Newcastle striker Woltemade, who is away at West Ham.
