Four wins from the latest six league matches means it has been a happy international break for Brentford. Especially after coming from behind to defeat Newcastle United 3-1 in Gameweek 11.
After some early saves, visiting goalkeeper Nick Pope (£5.2m) had to deal with Michael Kayode’s (£4.5m) throw-ins, which continue to cause chaos for opponents. One almost led to an equaliser, when Pope’s clearance fell to Aaron Hickey (£4.0m).
However, in the 56th minute, Kayode found success when he chucked the ball into the box and found Kevin Schade (£7.0m) at close range. No side has seen more attempts derive from throws (25). None of the rest exceed 13 of them, except Crystal Palace, making it a clear strength of Keith Andrews’ side.
Outside of the threat from throw-ins, Igor Thiago’s (£6.3m) volley would’ve been a stunner had it not been for Pope, but the Brazilian still claimed his goals from the penalty spot and another to seal the victory in stoppage time.
That’s now eight goals for Thiago; Erling Haaland (£14.9m) is the sole FPL forward who betters his 60 points.
Dango Ouattara (£6.0m) tormented Dan Burn (£5.2m) on several occasions and was eventually awarded a penalty, having been unlocked by Thiago’s brilliant pass.
The club record signing has started each of the last four league games - a period which has seen many shots inside the box for both him and team-mate Thiago.

Ouattara was particularly impressive when picking up a goal and an assist versus Liverpool.
While he’ll soon be off to represent Burkina Faso in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), it’s worth noting that all FPL managers will receive five free transfers straight after the Gameweek 15 deadline.
This means that, ideally, every carried-over transfer will be used beforehand, allowing the luxury of short-term punts. For example, some might see the appeal of Ouattara soon being at home to Burnley.
Elsewhere, the top three scorers of Gameweek 11 came at the back. Both Malo Gusto (£4.9m) and Michael Keane (£4.5m) combined a goal and a clean sheet with three bonus points, as Emiliano Martínez (£5.0m) stopped Antoine Semenyo’s (£8.1m) penalty to keep Bournemouth at bay.
In fact, FPL’s two most owned players both missed from the spot, although Haaland partly made amends by scoring shortly after.
The Norwegian was far short of Thiago’s 13-point afternoon, whereas the top midfield tallies belonged to Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) and Tomáš Souček (£5.7m).
Another of the many players off to AFCON is Bryan Mbeumo (£8.5m), but it won’t stop him from being the break’s most-bought player. One of those five Gameweek 16 free transfers can simply replace the Manchester United attacker.
Thiago and Jean-Philippe Mateta (£8.1m) are also popular. Mohammed Kudus (£6.5m), Viktor Gyökeres (£8.9m) and Nick Woltemade (£7.4m) are all being heavily sold, though.
The first two of that trio missed Gameweek 11 entirely and, if back from injury, will face each other in the Gameweek 12 North London Derby.
Such poor recent results should keep many armbands on Haaland.
Then again, some may be put off by the striker not scoring in any of his last five meetings against the Magpies, allowing alternatives like Mohamed Salah (£14.2m) to come into contention.
For managers who want a differential captain, the Chelsea or Crystal Palace attack looks a promising option.
Chelsea face Burnley in Gameweek 12, whilst Crystal Palace take on Wolves. Players like Mateta, Ismaïla Sarr (£6.7m), João Pedro (£7.5m) or Enzo Fernández (£6.7m) could all be good options for the armband this week.
