FPL Scout: Gameweek 30 hints, tips and advice | OneFootball

Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

This long gap between Gameweeks makes Brentford's clash with Bournemouth feel like a while ago.

After gathering two points from the first nine away trips, Brentford now have five wins in a row, the latest being an impressive success at the Champions League-chasing Cherries.

They came from behind to win at the Vitality Stadium, as Bryan Mbeumo (£8.1m) and Yoane Wissa (£6.5m) combined yet again - this time from a corner that the latter headed home. It ensures Brentford are the only team with two players amongst the league’s top seven goal scorers.

At the back, Mark Flekken (£4.4m) made a good first-half save from Evanilson (£5.7m). His five stops also denied David Brooks (£4.9m) from close range and Antoine Semenyo (£5.7m) from distance.

Those managers who own Sepp van den Berg (£4.1m) as their cheap defender will be pleased to see the Dutchman make a cameo after missing three complete matches.

The Bees face Newcastle in Gameweek 30 and won December’s reverse meeting 4-2.

The Spotlight

Victory came in the 71st minute, this time from a long Kevin Schade (£5.1m) throw. It was allowed to bounce inside the box, where club captain Christian Nørgaard (£4.8m) powered home a right-footer from six yards out.

It puts the 31-year-old on three goals from eight league matches, while his last three outings have seen four shots inside the box, four attempts created and two big chances for himself.

Nørgaard is a highly influential leader for the Bees. He ranks fourth-best at the club for shots (28) and big chances (seven), bettered only by attackers Wissa, Mbeumo and Schade.

Best of the Rest

Meanwhile, over 1.5 million chips were used in Blank Gameweek 29, as the Carabao Cup final stopped Liverpool, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace players from appearing for our FPL teams. 1.19 million of these chips were a Free Hit, where managers get to activate and have a one-week-only squad.

Most of these contained Bruno Fernandes (£8.6m), who was able to replicate November’s 17-point haul against Leicester. One goal and two assists take him up to a superb seven attacking returns from just four matches.

Nottingham Forest duo Anthony Elanga (£5.3m) and Nikola Milenković (£4.9m) outshone their highly selected colleague Chris Wood (£7.3m) by registering 16 and 11 points respectively.

Double-digit scores were also achieved by the likes of Omar Marmoush (£7.3m), Jørgen Strand Larsen (£5.3m) and Bernd Leno (£5.0m).

In Demand

So, it’s no surprise to see Fernandes remain the most-bought player of this long international break - even though he’s about to face Forest, Man City and Newcastle.

Before the Tuesday 1 April deadline, assets from the Magpies and Palace are already being bought in advance of Double Gameweek 32 - no other teams play twice in that. Furthermore, both have a nice-looking trip to one of the bottom two beforehand.

Cole Palmer (£10.8m) sales keep coming because his recent decline in form has been worsened by a muscle injury. Managers need to keep an eye on that, plus the issues affecting Wood and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m).

Captaincy

In early March, Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) broke the all-time record for FPL points in a season - with nine games to go. An extraordinary campaign has brought five double-digit tallies in his latest seven, making him hard to go against for Liverpool’s derby versus Everton.

However, the Egyptian has been kept quiet in subsequent appearances against PSG and Newcastle, leading some FPL managers towards an alternative.

Many may have opted for Erling Haaland (£14.8m) at home to Leicester, however an injury in the FA Cup means that many may now choose his differential team-mate Marmoush.
