Fraizer Campbell believes Kevin Danso’s loan switch to Sunderland can only benefit the Austria defender after an assured start on Wearside.

“I was at the game watching Kevin Danso. He's a big, big lad. And he and Dan Ballard looked solid together. It's unfortunate for him to have to move but he’s going to be playing in a decent Sunderland team, playing in Europe. So it'll only be good for him,” he told BoyleSports.

Sunderland took a measured approach to the window, adding five signings to Regis Le Bris’ Europa League-bound squad. On the pitch, Danso debuted in a 1-1 draw with Brentford, then played every minute in defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City. He also started the Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar as Sunderland began only the second European campaign in their history with a narrow home victory.

Since arriving, Danso has partnered former Arsenal defender Dan Ballard at the heart of Le Bris’ back line. Campbell views the pairing as already solid and sees regular minutes in a European side as a plus for the 37-cap international.
