France national team head coach Didier Deschamps has provided an update on the wellbeing of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé.
This of course comes after the attacker sparked concern across Los Blancos’ fanbase over the weekend.
En route to Xabi Alonso’s troops putting Villarreal to the sword by three goals to one, Mbappé featured from the off, keeping alive his stellar recent form by way of a goal and an assist.
Late in the action in Spain’s capital, however, the 26-year-old went to ground in evident discomfort.
After being tended to by the hosts’ medical team, Mbappé limped from the field of play and straight down the tunnel.
Concern surrounding a potential injury setback for the former PSG man, in turn, was sparked.
On Monday, however, the aforementioned Didier Deschamps moved to quell any such fears.
Drawn on Mbappé’s fitness during a press conference ahead of France’s upcoming World Cup qualifying double-header Azerbaijan and Iceland, Deschamps assured:
“Kylian Mbappé injured? He’s here, he had a small issue but nothing serious, otherwise he wouldn’t be here today.”
