France will launch its first women’s national futsal championship in September, a further step in structuring the sport.

According to L'Équipe, the launch comes three and a half years after the creation of the France women’s side. A men’s championship already exists, this will be a first for the women.

Twelve teams will compete from 19 September: Vaulx-en-Velin (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), Futsal Dijon Métropole (Côte d'Or), Rennes Métropole (Ille-et-Vilaine), AS Musau Strasbourg (Alsace), Toulouse Futsal Club (Haute-Garonne), Diamant (Essonne), Beuvry (Pas de Calais), AS Beauvais (Oise), Grand Saint-Barthélemy (Bouches-du-Rhône), Hercules Futsal (Eure), Sporting (Paris) and Nantes Métropole Futsal (Loire-Atlantique).

After a regular phase, teams will be split into three groups of four and meet home and away. Six sides will then contest the title in an elite pool, with six others playing for survival in an excellence pool.

The championship final is scheduled for 29 May 2027.

Before that, the women’s national cup final will see Toulouse Futsal face Sporting Paris in Reims on Saturday.
