France plan to organise friendly run-outs for their non-starters during the opening phase of the 2026 World Cup. According to L'Équipe, the aim is to keep the reserves match sharp between competitive fixtures.

There are six days between their first group match against Senegal and the second against Iraq on 22 June. To maintain rhythm, matches are scheduled for 17 and 23 June against youth players from New England Revolution.

The approach follows the template used at Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, and more recently at Euro 2024 in Germany.

Further training games could be added depending on how the calendar unfolds.

In preparation, the French federation has asked several local teams to provide young players capable of facing Les Bleus.
