France U-20s get their World Cup campaign underway against South Africa tonight. However, with just hours before kick-off in Chile, Bernard Diomede is still looking to add to his squad.

Many players have been recalled by their clubs. Most recently, AS Monaco’s Bradel Kiwa was recalled. He is currently travelling back to France to compensate for the injury sustained by Christian Mawissa, which leaves them short of cover at centre-back. Amid an injury crisis at Paris Saint-Germain, Quentin Ndjantou has also been retained, meaning that he will miss the entirety of the U-20 World Cup in Chile.

To compensate for those absences, L’Équipe understands that Diomede wants to call up former AS Monaco forward Saimon Bouabré and former FC Nantes centre-back Nathan Zézé. Since this summer, both play for Neom SC in Saudi Arabia.

However, Diomede may have to wait one week, and until the official start of the international break, to integrate the players into his squad. The competition will run until 19th October.
