Inter Milan announced on Tuesday the departure of four players, including senior figures Francesco Acerbi and Yann Sommer, as their contracts expire. Stefan de Vrij and Matteo Darmian also leave.

The sweeping clear-out looks like the end of a cycle. Inter were crowned Serie A champions again this season.

Acerbi, 38, made 26 appearances in all competitions this season and departs at the end of his deal. He arrived in 2023 after a loan from Lazio and won six trophies, including the Scudetto in 2024 and 2026.

Sommer, 37, also joined in 2023 and quickly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper. The Switzerland international leaves with four trophies and a very positive record.

Darmian, 36, was less prominent this season and departs after six seasons at the club. The right-back collected nine trophies and was for a long time a regular starter.

De Vrij, 34, arrived in 2018 and now moves on. The Netherlands centre-back departs with nine trophies and was a key contributor throughout his stay.

This decorated generation never managed to win the Champions League, losing finals in 2023 and 2025.
