Having come close to signing him last summer, Borussia Mönchengladbach are finally set to complete the signing of French winger Franck Honorat from Brest, according to a report this morning from L’Équipe.
The Bundesliga side have agreed terms with the Bretons over a transfer fee set at €9m, with the forward now due to undergo his medical tomorrow.
Since joining from Saint-Étienne three years ago, the 26-year-old – who was under contract for another three seasons – has scored 25 league goals for Brest. This past campaign, he found the net six times and registered five assists as the team finished in 14th place, as mid-year appointment Eric Roy guided them to an impressive run-in of six wins in ten.
Honorat, a Toulon native and a graduate of the Nice academy, previously turned out for Clermont and Sochaux before his move to Les Verts. In Brittany, though, he has enjoyed his three best seasons in terms of scoring returns, which inevitably attracted interest from both Ligue 1 and abroad.
