Former Bayern Munich winger and France international Franck Ribéry is not done yet with football. The 41-year-old has successfully passed his UEFA A coaching license, according to a report from L’Equipe. Ribéry called time on his decorated playing career two years ago, due to frequent knee pain. The 2013 Champions League winner with Bayern Munich then joined Salernitana’s backroom staff as an assistant coach. Ribéry played with I Granata in the final season of his career.

The outlet understands that Ribéry took coaching classes for more than a year at Coverciano, Italy’s national team’s training ground. Former Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and former Italy internationals Alessandro Diamanti and Domenico Criscito notably featured among Ribéry’s fellow graduates. L’Equipe adds that Gianmarco Pioli – Stefano Pioli’s son – was top of Ribéry’s class.

The outlet adds that Ribéry is now allowed to coach Serie C teams as well as youth Primavera outfits or women’s teams. A UEFA A coaching license is mandatory in France to obtain the BEPF – Brevet d’entraîneur professionnel de football – France’s senior coaching license.
