Franck Ribéry has rejected what his lawyer calls false information after his name appeared in a document within the Epstein files, and he will file a complaint.

According to L'Équipe, the former Bayern Munich winger is named in an anonymised 2019 document found among the files of the American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein was accused of establishing a vast network of sexual exploitation of underage girls and, according to authorities, died by suicide in prison in August 2019 before trial.

Ribéry, 42, was heard in Paris in 2010 as a witness in a case of aggravated pimping.

The former France international, capped 81 times with 16 goals, says false information has spread on social media suggesting he was involved in the Epstein affair.

The document asserts that his ties to prostitution were beyond doubt and alleges he tried to strike a woman as she stood in her garden after obtaining her address.
