Thomas Frank has said Tottenham are desperate to win games but is confident his side have enough to avoid a Premier League relegation battle.
Spurs sit just six points above thePremier League's relegation places following a run of seven league games without a win. The North London side lost 2-0 at Manchester United at the weekend and have not won in the Premier League in 2026.
Frank's side host Newcastle tomorrow evening in an important fixture for both teams. Ahead of that clash, the Dane has admitted his team are in desperate need of points.
Asked whether his team are in a relegation battle, Frank told the media on Friday: "There's no doubt we are desperate to win games, desperate. And I am focusing on Newcastle tomorrow - that's a great opportunity ahead of us against a good team.
"That's the main thing. Can we go out there and get three points tomorrow? That will be very good and then climb from there and look forward, and that's the main focus."
Pressed on whether Tottenham have enough to avoid being dragged into a relegation dogfight, Frank added: "Yeah, I think we have. Of course there's no doubt that a lot of players are out, that of course never helps. But I think I put a very competitive team out against Manchester United and I think we looked very good for the first 30 minutes."
Spurs will be without Cristian Romero tomorrow following his rash red card against Manchester United. No player in thePremier League has received more red cards than Romero since his arrival at Spurs and Frank wants the club captain to learn from his latest dismissal.
"For me, I think he is a leader. He is a young leader. He's learning every day. I've said I used the example when I was 30 years old I thought I was on top of the world, but I was no way near the level I am today in terms of leadership and understanding things.
"And then when you have a player that's playing with so much passion and aggression, things like that can happen.
"That's not to say he shouldn't learn from it, of course he needs learn from it, going forward."
