Thomas Frank revealed that Guglielmo Vicario will be fit to face Chelsea but Wilson Odobert and Archie Gray could be out for longer spells.

All three Spurs men missed Tottenham’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle at St James’ Park through injury with Odobert and Gray only on the bench in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Everton in the Premier League.

Frank gave an update on update on their absences.

“Gray got a contact to the calf in Monaco and has picked up a calf sprain,” he said. “Odobert has a Side strain. We need to assess him.

“Vicario had a small thing that he had to be done but he’ll be ready for Chelsea.”

Frank made four changes from the side that beat Everton earlier this week. He explained his team selection after the loss.

“It was very difficult, to be honest. You said that Newcastle made eight changes, we made four. But I think we made four because we wanted to compete and I think we competed.

“Unfortunately, we just dropped out on the wrong end of it. So, of course, as you say, it’s a busy schedule.

“It’s a balance to make a very competitive team that can perform and tactically still hit the criteria we want to hit. We played Everton, four changes, Newcastle four changes and then Chelsea on Saturday. Some you need to rest, others you need to be able to perform.”
