Eintracht Frankfurt defender Arthur Theate was sidelined after suffering a knee injury in training on Wednesday morning. Bild reports that there is strong concern within the club that the damage may be serious and he could face a lengthy spell out.

The injury has not yet been fully diagnosed. Examinations with the club's medical team are under way to determine the extent.

Theate will not be available against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.

The 25-year-old started in a back four in Albert Riera's first match as Frankfurt coach, a 1-1 draw at 1.FC Union Berlin.

The setback comes amid a recent spate of injuries to key individuals, including Younes Ebnoutalib and Can Uzun.
