Eintracht Frankfurt have submitted an initial offer for Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika, Fabrizio Romano reports, as the Hessen club look to refresh their midfield before the Bundesliga returns.

The 25-year-old Nigerian international was targeted in each of the past two windows without a move materialising. He is again viewed as a serious option this summer, with Bayer Leverkusen's Robert Andrich also under consideration.

The defensive midfielder is unlikely to come cheap despite entering the final year of his contract. Alongside the imminent signing of Noël Aséko, Frankfurt continue to seek further midfield depth.

A loan with an obligation to buy, worth up to €30 million, was discussed last summer, but the arrangement ultimately proved too complex.

Frankfurt also face competition for Onyedika, with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund being linked.
