Fredrik Aursnes is accelerating his recovery during the international break as he pushes for an early return to Benfica duty. According to A Bola, he wants to be fit for the trip to Casa Pia on six April, the 28th round of the Liga Portugal Betclic.
He undertook extra work during the three days off José Mourinho gave the squad, continuing his personalised programme. Benfica returned to Seixal on Monday, 30 March.
The pause for national teams proved useful, allowing uninterrupted rehab without the risk of missing matches. The Norwegian has not played since two March, when he went off injured against Gil Vicente, a game Benfica won 2-1.
This season he has made 43 appearances for Benfica, 22 in the Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. He has logged 3,635 minutes, with four goals and eight assists, and is valued at 17 million euros.
Aursnes remains focused on his plan, aiming to return to selection as soon as conditions permit. The coming days will determine whether he can make that Casa Pia date.
