Since leaving Montpellier, Wahbi Khazri has been a free agent. A return to SC Bastia is reportedly in the works.

This summer, Wahbi Khazri kept himself fit by using the facilities of his former club Bastia. Since then, the Tunisian international has continued his search for a new challenge. But according to the president of the Corsican club, Claude Ferrandi, it’s not out of the question that the former Saint-Étienne man could return home in the coming weeks.

“We’ve been talking with Wahbi for four years now, and I’ve always dreamed of bringing him back to Sporting. Wahbi once told me that maybe, one day, it would happen. He trained with us, but until now it was never a serious topic between the coach and Wahbi. But that could change. We’re aware of it, and we’re making adjustments in response to some challenges we’re facing. If the solution is to bring in someone like Wahbi Khazri, and if he agrees to join us... Are we in contact? Yes. He’s a rare player, I admit, and someone we’d love to have on our side. We’ll see how it goes, but it’s not easy—neither for him nor for us.
