14 matches, ten wins and 26 goals scored: Inter's Champions League campaign has been an exciting journey, one that began last September in Manchester, away to City. The match ended 0-0 with the Nerazzurri showing their value, and their desire to go far in the highest-level competition in Europe.
During the League Phase, Inter showed great attention, organisation and, above all, defensive solidity: in eight games, Inzaghi's side conceded just one goal, finishing in fourth place with 19 points. Inter won 1-0 on four occasions: few but important goals, which accompanied the 4-0 and 3-0 wins over Crvena Zvezda and AS Monaco. Said goals allowed for the Nerazzurri to qualify directly for the Round of 16. The first goals for the Nerazzurri came on the second matchday, in the match at San Siro against the Serbian side, with goals from Calhanoglu, Arnautovic, Taremi and Lautaro. Before finishing with Lautaro's hattrick against AS Monaco, we also beat Young Boys, Arsenal, RB Leipzig and Sparta Praha, with our only defeat coming to Bayer Leverkusen.
Inzaghi's side maintained their solidity in the direct elimination phase, shining in the offensive phase: they scored four goals over two matches against Feyenoord, like in the quarters against Bayern München. The seven goals in the two legged semi final against Barcelona have completed Inter's campaign until this point.
Goals of exceptional shooting precision, like Calhanoglu's set pieces or fuelled by Lautaro's never-ending energy, or even technical masterpieces like Thuram's and Dumfries' goals in Barcelona. Each goal crucial and electrifying, sending Inter fans into delirium - culminating in the miraculous goals from Acerbi and Frattesi in the dying moments against Barcelona at San Siro. In total, there have been nine different Nerazzurri scorers in the Champions League this season: Captain Lautaro leads the way with nine goals, making him the highest scorer in Inter history in this competition. Thuram and Calhanoglu are behind on four goals, while Frattesi and Dumfries have both scored two, all incredibly important. Acerbi's and Pavard's single goals tie them with Arnautovic and Taremi.
