Freiburg complete signing of Rihito Yamamoto from Sint-Truiden | OneFootball

SC Freiburg have completed the signing of Japanese midfielder Rihito Yamamoto from Sint-Truiden.

According to BuLi News, the 24-year-old spent two seasons in Belgium and delivered five goals and eight assists in 40 appearances in 2025/26.

Sporting director Klemens Hartenbach said Yamamoto made excellent progress last season and highlighted his versatility, noting he can influence games both with and without the ball. He added that the immediate priority is adaptation and refining the finer details of his game, with the club ready to support him.

Yamamoto said playing in the Bundesliga has long been a major target and that he spoke to Yuito about Freiburg, hearing only positive things. He wants to impact matches from midfield and develop together with the team.

The focus now is on his integration at Freiburg and his continued development in the months ahead.
