Louey Ben Farhat has decided to switch allegiance from Tunisia to Germany, according to Transfermarkt.

The 20-year-old, who was born in the German city of Waiblingen, reportedly turned down a place in Tunisia's World Cup squad, citing the heavy workload following a lengthy spell on the sidelines as one of the reasons.

The prospect of switching allegiance to Germany may also have played a role, with the attacker now expected to receive a call-up to the German U21 national team in September.

Ben Farhat joined Freiburg from Karlsruher SC for a reported €7.5 million fee this summer before being loaned back to the 2. Bundesliga side for the season.
