Following Sandro Tonali’s move to Tottenham, Newcastle United are turning their attention towards the Bundesliga once again as they search the German market for his replacement.
Newcastle are showing interest in Freiburg’s breakout star, Johan Manzambi, who has launched himself into the spotlight with his stellar performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup having scored three goals and created a further two.
However, according to Florian Plettenberg, there is no club-to-club agreement and concrete negotiations have not started. Additionally, Freiburg are demanding around €60m for their prized asset, and they’re well in their right to do so. The 20-year-old struck seven goals and created a further nine in 47 appearances across all competitions for the Breisgau club last season.
But Manzambi isn’t the only Bundesliga representative that Newcastle are monitoring. They have joined the list of interested clubs in VfB Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller, who has a reported release clause of €36.5m.
