French federation again refuses to reopen Bordeaux case after vote falls short | OneFootball

The French federation has again declined to reopen the Girondins de Bordeaux case, leaving the club relegated, at least, to Régional 1.

According to L'Équipe, a move to call an extraordinary executive committee to revisit the case did not gain the necessary backing.

Bordeaux are fighting on several fronts to avoid starting in R1 and heading towards liquidation. The commercial court confirmed the club was not insolvent, thanks to funds escrowed by would-be owners Sparta Capital and Park Bench, 10.6m euros at the Caisse des Dépôts plus $10m with JP Morgan. The club then turned back to the FFF to revisit the DNCG decision, so far without success.

On Friday, executive members were asked to assess whether to study the file in an extraordinary session that could have sent it back to the DNCG. To sway opinion, Bordeaux submitted two legal analyses arguing the FFF was obliged to consider the court's position.

A day earlier, members had been briefed by video with a detailed legal explanation stating the FFF had acted in line with its regulations.

Those who voted are understood to have mostly rejected the plan, and the club complained of late notice and an imprecise process.

For now, the outcome leaves the federation's stance unchanged, that it need not revisit the case given the CNOSF opinion upholding Bordeaux's exclusion from national competitions.
