The National Assembly will examine the professional sport reform bill, which would reform French football’s governance, on 29 June.
Lille president Olivier Létang called it “a bad text” and urged a delay “after the summer or in 2027”, he told Le Figaro.
Supporters had feared it would not make the agenda despite a pledge from Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu. Group leaders confirmed the 29 June slot on Tuesday. It cleared the Senate last June by all but one vote.
It was not taken up in May amid a legislative bottleneck, while opponents, led by PSG and Lille, lobbied to postpone or bury it.
Laurent Lairy of Laval said most clubs are not opposed, with Ligue 2 largely in favour and Ligue 1 broadly split. Federation president Philippe Diallo has called it indispensable and urgent, though he backed the League’s rejection over amendments on a free-to-air match, betting rights moving to the 3F, and supporter involvement. CVC Capital Partners also backs the reform.
Senators Laurent Lafon and Michel Savin, who drafted the bill, said the League’s reaction was disproportionate and that committee changes are not final. After the 29 June vote, a joint committee of seven senators and seven deputies chaired by Lafon will meet, date to be set. The bill must return to both chambers on 21 July.
