With the Ligue 1 2025/26 season set to kick off in just three days with the high-profile Rennes vs Marseille fixture on Friday evening, Olympique de Marseille president Pablo Longoria has taken to LinkedIn to express his support for the new Ligue 1+ streaming platform — the primary broadcaster of eight out of nine Ligue 1 matches each matchday.
“Beyond the numbers, this is a structural change: the league no longer simply sells its rights, it integrates content, distribution, and data into a single architecture,” wrote the Spaniard on his LinkedIn page. “The objectives are clear: securing long-term revenue, controlling the fan experience from start to finish, managing access to audiences, and optimizing monetization.”“Without judging anyone’s strategy, I believe that at a critical moment for French football, it would have been beneficial to form a united front for the collective good of our professional sport,” said Longoria on the absence of Canal+.“Believing in French football means subscribing to Ligue 1+. The success of Ligue 1+ is not just that of the league, but of everyone who wants football to keep its essence, take social responsibility, and above all, serve its viewers.”GFFN | George Boxall
