The Spanish media has been extremely critical of Vinicius Jr in recent days, especially after his poor conduct on the field in the recent El Clasico.

While the player did not do anything overt in terms of handling the opposition, his reaction to being substituted by Xabi Alonso has not gone down well with many fans and pundits across the globe.

Rotations, after all, are a part and parcel of the game and the player’s complaining about being rested after an important game is widely being seen as unwarranted and unprofessional.

Former French star speaks

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, former French professional footballer Christophe Dugarry lashed out at the Real Madrid star for his attitude on the field and was ruthless when explaining how the situation may end up for him.

He began by praising Kylian Mbappe and comparing Vinicius to him to expose all the negative elements in the Brazilian’s game.

“I loved Mbappé’s performance, both his attitude and his behavior. Unlike Vinicius, who is unbearable. He’s always whining to the referee, to his opponents,” he began.

Speaking out particularly on the player’s antics and disrespect towards the manager, he said,

“He harangues the crowd like he’s in the arena. And then he insults his coach. You can be disappointed, but this is going too far.”

Dugarry then elaborated on how Vinicius’ on-field antics infuriated him and how the player has a lot to improve on – both in a sporting and non-sporting sense.

“Go away, his performances aren’t up to scratch. He irritates me, he cries all the time, and he’s always complaining about something. He’s a long way off his form of recent seasons,” he began.

“He needs to take a long hard look at himself. He’s a future Ballon d’Or winner, a leader for Brazil, one of Real Madrid’s best players,” he added.

Finally, the former French star ruthlessly stated how the Real Madrid president would not hesitate to part ways with the winger if matters continue the same way.

“He needs to show something else if he wants to be at the top of his game. Florentino Pérez will sell him.”
