FLW's Plymouth fan pundit has given his verdict on the appointment of Derek Adams as director of football

Plymouth Argyle have confirmed the appointment of Derek Adams as their latest director of football.
The 50-year-old previously worked at Home Park as manager from 2015 to 2019, and led the team to promotion from League Two in 2017.
He is fondly remembered by many supporters for his work with the club, and his return comes amid a poor run of form to start the campaign.
Pressure is mounting on Tom Cleverley, who arrived as manager in the summer following the Pilgrims’ relegation from the Championship.
However, four wins from their opening 15 league games has left them bottom of the League One table, and already four points adrift of safety.

When asked about Adams’ appointment as director of football, FLW’s Plymouth fan pundit Luke Hodge claimed that this is a great development for the team.
He is optimistic that the former Pilgrims manager can help turn things around behind the scenes, and that his experience with the club should help him in identifying what’s gone wrong with the team to start this season.
“Delighted with the news, Derek Adams’ name has been bandied about recently about getting him back, even in a managerial role,” Hodge told Football League World.
“But [as] director of football, it’s a great move.
“It’s obvious what’s been wrong so far with the club, and he comes with bags of experience, bit of an Argyle legend really.
“For four years he was in charge of the club from 2015 to 2019, got us promoted from League Two, and he knows everything about Argyle.
“He’s Argyle through and through, and he knows what the club means to the fans, and I think he’ll know in no uncertain terms he’ll stamp his mark on this football team, and people he manages.
“I think it’s a very positive move in what is a very negative start to the season.
“Fingers crossed he can do a good job.”
Plymouth have struggled for form under Cleverley, with some supporters already turning on the former Watford manager.
The Pilgrims were hoping to compete for promotion back to the Championship this campaign, but they are instead embroiled in a relegation battle, and at risk of falling into League Two.
The Devon outfit have lost their last four league fixtures in a row, and have not won a game since their 4-0 victory over Burton Albion on 27 September.
Next up for Plymouth is a trip to face Port Vale on 22 November in a 12.30pm kick-off.

It’s clear that a change behind the scenes at Plymouth was needed given their horrendous start to this season.
Adams will now oversee the running of the club, which could mean a change in manager if this run of form continues beyond the international break.
The 50-year-old will also be an important part of the recruitment process, so his managerial experience will come in handy for this role.
Having someone of his calibre to work alongside Cleverley may also help him to turn things around in the immediate term, so this could prove a very smart move by Plymouth.
