Plymouth Argyle defender Brendan Galloway was forced off with an injury whilst playing for Zimbabwe against Algeria.
Plymouth’s Brendan Galloway has suffered a fresh injury blow after he was forced off in Zimbabwe’s 3-1 friendly defeat to Algeria on Thursday night.
The former Everton man initially joined Argyle on a short-term basis in the summer of 2021, and his impressive performances saw the club move to keep Galloway on an extended deal.
The 29-year-old played his part in helping the club to the Championship in the 2022/23 campaign, and he made 26 appearances as they stayed in the second-tier the following season.

However, he has had bad luck with injuries over the years, with Galloway featuring just 13 times as the Green Army were relegated in the previous season, much to the frustration of the player and all connected to the club.
Pleasingly for Galloway, he had managed to stay fit for much of the season, with Tom Cleverley selecting the defender 11 times so far in League One.
But, it appears he may have to do without him for a spell moving forward, as Zimbabwe confirmed on social media that Galloway had been replaced with just under ten minutes to go against Algeria after picking up an injury.
Of course, it’s too soon to know the full extent of the problem, and Argyle will no doubt be in contact with Galloway’s national team to discover what the issue is.
This is the big worry for any manager when their players go away on international duty, so Cleverley and Plymouth will be hoping that it’s not a serious issue.
Given their situation, Plymouth need everyone to be fit and available, as they are in desperate need of results as they look to climb out of the relegation zone.

Like the rest of his teammates, Galloway hasn’t been at his best this season, but he is still a good player who has proven himself at this level in the past.
Cleverley does have other options at the back though, as, despite their struggles, there is a decent squad at Home Park, so it can’t be used as an excuse by the boss, who is coming in for fierce criticism from the supporters.
The ex-Hornets manager is under significant pressure by the Home Park faithful and it would be no surprise to see him relieved of his duties if results fail to pick up with swift effect, meaning he will be desperate to be able to call upon his strongest players in a bid to stop the rot.
