Rangers have made an approach to sign Josh Windass, whom Danny Rohl coached at Sheffield Wednesday
Wrexham agonisingly finished outside the play-offs on the final day of the 2025/26 Championship campaign, but overall, it can be seen as a successful season.
The Red Dragons achieved their highest-ever EFL finish by coming seventh, and, considering the amount of player turnover that Phil Parkinson oversaw over the past nine months, the squad will be ready to push further on in their second year at the Stok Cae Ras towards promotion.
One of the earlier arrivals in North Wales last summer was Josh Windass, who arrived in mid-July following his departure from Sheffield Wednesday in the wake of numerous late wage payments by former owner Dejphon Chansiri.
The 32-year-old made an immediate impression at his new club, scoring 16 and assisting a further five goals in the Championship - the most goal contributions he's managed in a single league season in his entire career.
That helped Windass win Wrexham's Player of the Season earlier this month, and off the back of such a successful year, the Red Dragons may be incurring a struggle to keep him at the club past this summer.

Windass was in high demand midway through the past season. Just months after he arrived at Wrexham, the 32-year-old's former club, Rangers, put in an offer for him.
The Red Dragons immediately rebuked that offer, but with the season now at a close, Ben Jacobs reported on Monday evening that the Scottish giants have made a fresh approach to try and tempt him north of the border.
Jacobs outlined that the move has been driven by Rangers head coach Danny Rohl, who worked with Windass at Sheffield Wednesday for close to two years before they both departed last summer.
The attacking midfielder's first season under Rohl was interrupted by injuries, but in the 2024/25 campaign, the German boss coached him to 13 league goals, which was his best return since his breakthrough year at Accrington Stanley a decade ago.
Ultimately, that goalscoring nature has followed him to North Wales, and his former boss is eager to see that materialise back in the SPL.
Windass spent two seasons at Ibrox between 2016 and 2018. His final year there saw him net 18 in all competitions, earning him a £2.5 million move back to England to play for Wigan Athletic.

Ben Jacobs would go on to state in his report that there have been no club-to-club talks just yet between Wrexham and Rangers. As and when they do come, Phil Parkinson should be doing all he can to persuade the club to keep Windass.
The 32-year-old was not only an integral part of their whole campaign, but his contributions towards the end of the season, where he netted in six of his final seven starts, helped the Red Dragons to keep pace with the top six right until the very end.
Having improved in each of his last two seasons and playing over 40 games in each league campaign, Windass is showing no signs of slowing down, and if Wrexham are to go one better and land a play-off spot, or even make an automatic promotion push, you'd imagine that he'd have a major part to play.
After building the foundations of a successful Championship squad last summer and in January, the focus at the Stok Cae Ras should be on small and impactful additions, rather than another year of mass sales and mass purchases.
Keeping the majority of that core will be key to progressing, and Windass is a key part of that core of players that Parkinson will be relying on next season.
