Norwegian midfielder Sverre Nypan could be recalled from his loan spell at Middlesbrough before the end of the window

Sverre Nypan has struggled for game time since his loan switch to Middlesbrough in the summer, with parent club Manchester City considering recalling the Norwegian before the end of the window.
Middlesbrough find themselves in the midst of a promotion battle this campaign, with Swedish boss Kim Hellberg stamping his authority on the squad this January window.
The likes of Leo Castledine, Finley Munroe, and Jeremy Sarmiento have all made the switch to Teesside this month, and they may well not be done there with just days remaining before the window slams shut.
One of their summer additions, Sverre Nypan, who joined Boro on loan from Manchester City after emerging as one of the brightest prospects in world football in his native Norway with Rosenborg, has, however, been linked with a recall after a severe lack of game time at The Riverside.
Nypan, despite making 20 league appearances, has played just over 600 minutes of football in the Championship for Boro, and could well be recalled before the deadline.

Football League World's Middlesbrough fan pundit, Liam, has shared their opinion on whether Nypan should be recalled by Manchester City this month, and if it would have an effect on their promotion hopes.
Liam said, "I can't see this having any effect on us in our promotion battle, if I'm honest with you."I was so excited when I saw him linked, you know, I think we've all played Football Manager and had him in our teams and realised, okay, this kid's special. But then, obviously, Football Manager's not real life."I've been very, very disappointed with him. Whilst I think he has shown a bit of quality, especially at Preston away, where I was really quite impressed with him in his little cameo. I think physically, he's not up for the Championship just yet. Technical wise, he's okay. I think he'll develop into a good player."A team like Man City aren't interested in you for no reason. So, you know, there's definitely potential there, but I don't think he'll affect us anyway if he does leave. I hope he does sort of, in a weird way."I hope he develops and goes to a different club, you know. I think this loan will have helped him a lot physically and mentally, but I don't think it's worked out, and I don't think it'd be any blow to us if you were to leave now."

Boro sit just three points off league leaders Coventry City as things stand, with the Sky Blues hitting the buffers in recent weeks, providing Hellberg's side with the opportunity to narrow the gap.
Middlesbrough have an array of depth in midfield areas, boasting the likes of Hayden Hackney, Aidan Morris, Alex Gilbert, Riley McGree, and Alan Browne, as well as Nypan.
Unfortunately for the young Norwegian, he hasn't been able to displace any of the aforementioned players in the Boro starting 11 consistently, seeing his game time drastically limited as a result.
Should Manchester City indeed recall Nypan before the end of the month, Boro's bid for promotion will likely not be affected, given his lack of impact on the side.
With just days remaining, Boro
