Arsenal have suffered fresh injury scare after centre back Gabriel Magalhaes was forced off during Brazil’s friendly against Senegal in London on Saturday.

The defender appeared to feel discomfort in his right thigh signalling to the bench before being substituted shortly after the hour mark.

The incident instantly raised alarm bells in North London with Arsenal already dealing with multiple fitness concerns during the international break.

Another blow after Calafiori setback

Earlier in the day, Arsenal had already been dealt bad news as Riccardo Calafiori was ruled out of Italy’s World Cup qualifier against Norway on Sunday.

Both developments come at the worst possible time for Mikel Arteta who faces demanding schedule immediately after the international window.

A decisive three game stretch

Arsenal return to Premier League action with huge North London derby against Tottenham at the Emirates on 23 November.

Three day later, they host Bayern Munich in high stakes Champions League clash.

The month ends with another heavyweight fixture — Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

With such congested and decisive run, Arsenal will be hoping Gabriel’s injury proves minor. The Brazilian has been ever present leader in Arteta’s back line this season forming one of the league’s most consistent defensive partnerships.
