Al-Ittihad coach Sergio Conceicao has made Mohamed Salah a top transfer target after Karim Benzema’s move to Al-Hilal.

Salah linked with major Saudi Move

Saudi club Al-Ittihad reportedly preparing serious approach for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as they look for new leader in attack ahead of the next summer transfer window.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, head coach Sergio Conceicao sees the Egyptian winger as the main option to fill the gap left by Karim Benzema who recently completed move to Al-Hilal on one and a half year contract.

Benzema’s departure caused strong reactions among supporters as he played important role in Al-Ittihad’s league title success last season.

Al-Ittihad reshaping their attack

Al-Ittihad moved quickly in the winter market by signing Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri to strengthen the centre-forward position.

However the club are still looking for major star to replace Benzema’s impact and raise the level of the squad.

Conceicao’s team currently sit sixth in the Saudi Pro League while Al-Hilal remain top of the table after adding more signings during the winter window.

Salah remains a long-term Saudi dream

Salah has been one of the most wanted players in Saudi football for several years.

Previous reports have already linked him with huge offers showing the strong interest in bringing one of Africa’s biggest stars to the league.

The Liverpool forward has been at Anfield since the 2017 /18 season and his reputation as scorer and leader continues to attract attention from abroad.

Situation at Liverpool under scrutiny

Although Salah recently signed new contract with Liverpool, reports suggest his relationship with the club has been tested this season.

Public comments made in December hinted at frustration over how he felt he was being treated raising questions about his long-term future.

With Al-Ittihad looking for new icon after Benzema’s exit, Salah could become one of the headline names of the next transfer window.
