According to Globo.com, Grêmio’s production line of wingers keeps paying out. Alysson’s move to Aston Villa was confirmed on Thursday, taking overall returns to at least R$ 326.5 million.
The trend dates back to 2014, when Pedro Rocha arrived on loan from Diadema for the under-20s. Since then, Pedro Rocha, Everton Cebolinha, Pepê, Ferreira, Gustavo Nunes and Alysson have headlined the exports.
Alysson, 19 and a product of the club’s academy, was sold for 10 million euros, R$ 65.6 million at the current rate. A further two million euros, R$ 13.1 million, could follow in bonuses.
His departure underlines how sales are happening earlier in careers. Pedro Rocha made 126 first-team appearances before joining Spartak Moscow in 2017.
The biggest deal in the role was Everton Cebolinha’s move to Benfica in August 2020 for 20 million euros, R$ 127.6 million at the current rate. Grêmio held 50% of his rights and received R$ 63.8 million.
Now at Flamengo, Everton played 273 times for Grêmio and won the Copa do Brasil in 2016, the Libertadores in 2017 and the Recopa Sul-Americana in 2018. He also lifted the Gauchão in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
