Juan Bezerra has helped Zamalek go top after wins over ZED FC and Pyramids FC in late February and March.

Two matches that changed Zamalek’s mood

Zamalek’s league push has gained real speed and Brazilian winger Juan Alvina Bezerra is one of the main reasons. The 23 year-old played key roles in back to back wins that lifted Zamalek to the top of Egyptian Premier League table.

On Tuesday 24 February 2026 Bezerra scored the opener against ZED FC in the 22 minute. ZED later equalised but Zamalek won 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Ahmed Rabia.

Zamalek then beat Pyramids FC 1-0 on Sunday 1 March 2026, a result that took them to 40 point, three clear of Al Ahly & Pyramids on 37.

Why Bezerra is becoming important?

Bezerra is not only about skills and dribbles. His biggest value is how he helps Zamalek move up the pitch fast. In both games, he carried the ball forward on counters, pulled defenders out of position and created space for teammates to join the attack.

His work without the ball is also getting noticed. He presses, tracks back and keeps fighting even when the team drops deeper late in matches.

That “all-action” style is why many inside the club see him as a key player in big games.

Where he came from and what Zamalek see in him?

Bezerra whose full name is Juan Alvina Bezerra is listed as a right winger and joined Zamalek in August 2025. He is under contract until 30 June 2029 which shows the club’s long-term plan for him.

Career trackers also show he arrived from Oleksandriya in Ukraine after earlier time with Vasco da Gama in Brazil.

Right now Zamalek are getting something clear from him:

  • A winger who can beat his man
  • Run in transition
  • Keep the team dangerous even when they defend for long spells
