Shots on goal after the break: BVB did not have their first shot on goal until the 49th minute, when Felix Nmecha rose to head the ball. After the hosts had dominated the first half with 10 shots on goal to 0, the stats showed seven shots on goal for the Black & Yellows after the break.
Brandt the super sub: Julian Brandt scored the 17th goal of his Bundesliga career as a substitute; in Bundesliga history, only Petersen (34), Pizarro (21) and Zickler (18) have scored more often off the bench. The BVB number 10 brought the score to 2-1 with his first touch of the ball.
Milestone anniversary: Substitute Ramy Bensebaini made his 150th Bundesliga appearance.
Three-man defence: BVB played with a three-man defensive line consisting of Schlotterbeck, Anton and Süle for the first time ever in a competitive match.
Süle’s debut: Niklas Süle made his first appearance of the Bundesliga season after suffering a calf muscle injury in August. So far this season, he had only played in the Champions League against Bilbao.
Streak broken: After three unbeaten games against Bayern (one win, two draws), BVB lost to the record champions.
First defeat since March: After going 14 games unbeaten in the Bundesliga, the Black & Yellows lost for the first time in seven months (the last defeat was a 2-0 loss in Leipzig back in March).
Half-time deficit: It was the first time this season that BVB had been behind at half-time in a competitive match. In their last match against Leipzig, the Black & Yellows were also 1-0 down, but equalised in the first half to make it 1-1.
International players: Of the ten Germany internationals in both squads who played in the country's last two matches against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland, seven were in the starting line-up. For BVB, it was Anton, Schlotterbeck, Adeyemi and Nmecha, and for Bayern, it was Tah, Kimmich and Pavlovic.Compiled by Christina Reinke
