Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly opening up to the idea of returning to Italy after another extremely difficult season at Old Trafford.

Hojlund has led the line for United since his £72 million move from Atalanta in the summer of 2023. However, he’s largely struggled to live up to expectations, with inconsistent form plaguing much of his two-year stint.

The lowest point of his United career was the just-concluded 2024/25 season, which saw him score just four Premier League goals.

His poor performances were a great source of frustration for supporters, many of whom already appear to have given up hope of him ever coming good. Beyond his underwhelming numbers, Hojlund also fell short on key striker fundamentals, such as holding up the ball and linking play effectively.

With United on the hunt for a new striker and mounting patience with Hojlund wearing thin, it appears his days at the club are numbered. A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Ruben Amorim is no longer counting on the Dane.

The strongest interest in Hojlund appears to be coming from Inter Milan, who are understood to have already established contact with his camp regarding a potential transfer.

More recently, it emerged that the Nerazzurri have also reached out to United to determine the conditions of getting a deal over the line.

But it’s not just Inter. Hojlund has also been linked to Napoli and Juventus.

There were suggestions that the 22-year-old made it clear to his agents that he has no desire to part ways with United but according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Hojlund is now contemplating the idea of going back to Italy.

Writing for CaughtOffside, Pedulla noted, “Finally, keep an eye on Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane is not satisfied with his time in Manchester and is considering a return to Italy.”

“Several clubs (including Inter) are interested in him and he’d be an excellent option for those seeking a dynamic and already proven striker.”

United will be hoping that more suitors come out for Hojlund, as increased interest could boost his valuation and help Amorim’s side avoid resorting to a loan move.
