Cornelia Kapocs admitted that Liverpool are frustrated following their fifth loss in a row since the start of the Women’s Super League season.
But she added that the team is getting closer to turning things around.
The most recent defeat came at Anfield, at the hands of Manchester City.
The Reds went 1-0 up through Kapocs in the 52nd minute, before Iman Beney grabbed a leveller on 64 minutes and then Aoba Fujino got the winner four minutes from time.
“I think we deserved a bit more today,” Kapocs said to the club’s official website, “very disappointing.
“I feel like we’re getting closer, we showed up really well today. We were close but they are also a really good team. We made it hard for them today.
“We need to take the good things with us. But we need to get some points now. It’s frustrating.”
Liverpool also lost by a single goal last weekend, to a controversial London City Lionesses penalty.
“We need to keep on believing,” she went on.
“We’re getting closer and closer. We can’t do anything else than believe in ourselves. It’s just to keep going.”
Liverpool thought they had snatched an equaliser in the last seconds but Gemma Bonner was flagged offside.
And head coach Gareth Taylor admitted it was the correct decision.
“I’ve managed to see it really, really quickly from one angle and it does look like Gemma was offside in the moment the kick was taken,” he said after the match.
“Yeah, it’s a frustrating one because that would have been nice, I think that’s what we would have deserved. But at this moment we’re not getting what we deserve and it’s tough. But it’s fine, I think it’s close to working, it’s close to coming. It takes time, there’s been a lot of change, but we keep working in the same way.”
And he reiterated that after being appointed only in August, he had had relatively little time with his squad.
“We’ve changed a lot of things. We’ve been asked to come in and bring [in] a new way and sometimes it takes time, and certainly with regards to how late we came [through] the door. I think it’s been really tough. More time with the girls would be what every head coach wants and the more time to implement your way and your style.”
