FSG have faced some critics at Liverpool but in truth they have been the key to the club's growth over the last decade.
When the Reds' US owners took over at Anfield, the club was on a decline. Liverpool were struggling on the pitch and globally their reach and support had waned due to disappointing performances and a lack of success.
FSG changed all of that. Introducing a successful recruitment strategy and employing key personnel like Michael Edwards and Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have become one of the biggest sporting brands in the world once again.
The club is now endorsed by athletes like LeBron James and continues to rake in record-breaking revenues and sponsorship deals with brands across the globe.
This has allowed Liverpool to be competitive in the transfer market and spend lavishly this summer, bringing in Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak for record fees.
Right now, there's no denying Liverpool have never been in a better place commercially. The club boasts sponsors like Kodansha from Japan, who are helping the Reds reach new audiences through the form of mangas like Blue Lock.
Adidas are back as Liverpool's shirt manufacturer and have broken records with shirt sales over the summer.
Liverpool's success on the pitch means more audiences are tuning in to watch games from across the world and that the club's brand is very attractive to potential advertisers.
It's why Liverpool could very well be involved in the NBA's latest expansion plans into Europe. NBA commissioner Adam Silver recently confirmed plans of an NBA Europe being in the works (ESPN) with a new competition potentially starting as early as 2027.
This expansion will involve established basketball clubs competing across the continent and in EuroLeague. There are plans to have two UK franchises as well.
These have been touted to be in Manchester or London but plans are not definite yet.
The suggestions are that the NBA plans to build teams around major existing football teams. A recent post on Instagram has purported that Liverpool could be among the football teams expanding into basketball.
Now this is just speculation at the moment, but the idea is not as far fetched as it seems. Many European football clubs already have established basketball teams.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all compete in basketball's biggest European competition - the EuroLeague.
There are already concrete plans for Paris Saint Germain to also launch a basketball team for the inaugural NBA Europe.
Considering Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in England, it would make sense for the NBA to want the Reds to be involved.
On the other hand, there's incentive in it for Liverpool, too.
FSG have reported to be interested in creating an NBA franchise. They were reportedly in the running to buy the Boston Celtics.
Liverpool's part-owner LeBron James is one of the biggest faces in basketball and he has also been rumoured to have a desire to build his own franchise.

Launching a Liverpool basketball team would therefore certainly be something that may appeal to both LeBron and FSG.
There's also advantages in it for the city of Liverpool. Basketball is currently one of the most popular sports watched and played by young people in the UK.
Aside from North America, the UK has the most subscribers for the NBA League Pass, and there's definitely a lot of rising interest in the sport.
Liverpool unlike other major cities in the UK do not have a professional basketball team at the moment.
So, there is an opportunity here to build on the growing popularity of the sport and to create a new source of revenue and entertainment for the city.
Some may scoff at the time, but this is a move that should be seriously considered.
