The Brazilian scored a crucial equaliser in the Cottagers’ opening Premier League fixture
Fulham will look to enter contract negotiations with Rodrigo Muniz immediately after the transfer window closes.
Muniz, who scored a 96th-minute equaliser away to Brighton last weekend, has been the subject of interest from Atalanta, with Fulham rejecting a £34million bid for the striker.
Marco Silva couldn’t confirm that Muniz would stay at the club when asked about the striker’s future post-match, but Fulham are adamant they would have to sign a replacement if they were to sell Muniz, and remain confident they will keep hold of the 24-year-old.
Atalanta are looking to sign a striker to replace Mateo Retegui, last season’s top scorer in Serie A, who has joined Saudi side Al-Qadsiah for a reported fee of £56m, but they have cooled their interest in Muniz after seeing their opening bid rejected.
Muniz scored 11 goals in all competitions for Fulham as they secured a club record points tally in the Premier League last season.
Fulham maintain that Muniz is not for sale. The club are instead focusing on strengthening their ranks.
The Lilywhites saw a bid for winger Kevin rejected by Shakhtar Donetsk last week and are expected to lodge a second bid for the 22-year-old.
It’s been a quiet summer for Fulham, who have brought in just one new signing, backup goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte from Montpellier.
The club have focused on retaining the crux of the squad that helped them to an 11th-place finish last season, prioritising contract renewals for Tom Cairney, Kenny Tete, Josh King, and Seth Ridgeon.
With the transfer window closing in under two weeks, Fulham are expected to step up their efforts to strengthen their squad.
