Both sides are separated by four places and five points, and are well in the hunt to secure European football next season.
As well as three precious points towards their respective causes, local bragging rights are also at stake.
The Brazilian has been Fulham’s man in form in recent weeks, scoring in each of their last three Premier League matches.
He also grabbed a dramatic last-gasp winner when the sides met at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
You would already automatically expect it to be a busy day for the referee, given this is a local derby.
And those instincts will receive greater reassurance given the fact the match features both the team and player with the most yellow cards in the Premier League this season.
Indeed, Chelsea have been shown 87 yellow cards – more than any other side – while Fulham’s Sasa Lukic has had his name taken on a league-high 12 occasions.
Despite suffering three defeats in their last five games in all competitions at the time of writing, Fulham still managed to claim an impressive 3-2 win over Liverpool.
Not only that, but they have only been beaten twice in their last 10 Premier League games at Craven Cottage.
That will give them confidence to go and complete a rare double over their local rivals.
As things stand, Chelsea are in prime position to secure fourth place and Champions League football next season.
However, their momentum has stalled a little in recent weeks, with just one win in three games following a run of four straight victories.
Enzo Maresca’s side are also fighting on the continental front, with Legia Warsaw providing the opposition in their Europa Conference League quarter-final tie.
Kenny Tete and Harry Wilson should both be available for Fulham, following their recent spells on the sidelines with knee and ankle injuries respectively.
Although, Reiss Nelson remains a long-term absentee with a thigh problem.
Romeo Lavia could be back in contention for Chelsea, though Omari Kellyman and Wesley Fofana are out for the remainder of the season with thigh injuries.
Chelsea have lost just two of their last 26 meetings with Fulham, though they both came in the five most recent showdown – including this season’s reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge.
