Celtic lifted the Scottish Cup in dramatic fashion back in May 1988, sealing a famous 2-1 victory over Dundee United to complete a historic centenary double and supporters can relive every moment of that unforgettable afternoon in this week’s Full Match Flashback.

In front of more than 74,000 fans at Hampden, Billy McNeill’s side produced a performance worthy of the club’s 100th anniversary season, coming from behind to clinch the cup in the dying seconds thanks to a brace from Frank McAvennie.

Kevin Gallacher had fired Dundee United ahead early in the second half, but Celtic’s response was filled with determination and belief, and when McAvennie levelled with 15 minutes to play, momentum swung firmly in the Hoops’ favour.

Then, with just seconds remaining, the striker was in the right place once again to steer home the winner and spark scenes of sheer jubilation among the Celtic support, as the club’s centenary year ended in true fairytale fashion.
