Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will finally meet in Cardiff on the same weekend Southampton visit Cardiff City, creating a squeeze on accommodation for travelling fans.

The all-British showdown is confirmed for Friday, December 11 at the Principality Stadium, capacity 74,000. According to Daily Echo, Saints play away at Cardiff City at 3pm the following day, roughly a 30-minute walk at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Hotel prices in and around the city have surged as thousands of boxing fans are expected for a late-night card. That could leave Southampton supporters planning to stay over facing higher costs and limited availability.

Joshua, 36, and Fury, 37, each came through July warm-up fights to clear the way for a contest long discussed.

Fury stopped 46-year-old Mariusz Wach in the seventh round in Pattaya, Thailand, in front of around 1,500. Joshua was knocked down twice by Albanian Kristian Prenga in Jeddah but recovered to stop him in the second round, his first fight since surviving a car crash in Nigeria that killed two friends.

After that win Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn reiterated a preference for Wembley, but the Cardiff date has been set.
