Gabi Nunes joins Corinthians training ahead of the final in London

Corinthians had a familiar face present during preparations for the international final. On the morning of this Friday (30), forward Gabi Nunes, a former player of the club, visited the Brabas’ training session at Barnet FC’s training center in London, where the team is making final adjustments before the decisive match.

Currently signed with Aston Villa, England, Gabi watched the session alongside the main squad players. The training was split between physical work in the gym and tactical exercises on the pitch, as reported by Corinthians themselves on their social media.

The forward had a remarkable spell with the black-and-white team between 2016 and 2021. After leaving the club, she continued her career in European football, playing for Madrid CFF and Levante, both in Spain. In 2024, she transferred to Aston Villa, where she remains to this day.

Gabi Nunes has been away from matches since August last year, when she played in a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). According to the portal Lance!, the player underwent surgery on her lower back to treat a herniated disc and resumed training at the end of January 2026.

During her time at Corinthians, the forward also faced physical challenges. Over the years, she suffered three ligament injuries in her knees, including an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture in July 2019, which kept her off the pitch for more than a year.

Despite the obstacles, Gabi built an impressive record wearing the Brabas’ shirt. She played 115 matches and scored 77 goals, a performance that makes her the fourth highest scorer in the history of Corinthians women’s football.

The return of the forward to the club is a recurring topic among fans. In an interview given to ESPN last year, Gabi said she was happy during her time defending Corinthians and stated that she intends to return to the club in the future.
