Gabi Nunes says a return to Corinthians remains possible after negotiations broke down, with the forward signing for Orlando Pride on a deal to December. She left Aston Villa in May.

"The first thing I told my representatives was that I wanted Corinthians to be first. I gave them full priority to hear an offer, and while my agents handled proposals, I left everything open," she said to Record News.

"They told me the club’s situation was not great. We left it open, we never close the door. They felt now was not the best moment for the club," she added.

Club figures had initially expected new Fatal Fans sponsorship income to help match her salary expectations, but the money was redirected to pay debts. "In the end the door with Corinthians closed, it was a good conversation, but everything was about finances. Corinthians were my first option," she said.

Corinthians indicated talks could be revisited in January, with the club expecting a tidier financial picture early in 2027 and her Orlando deal due to end.

Now 29, Nunes played 115 games for Corinthians between 2016 and 2021, winning five trophies and scoring 77 goals with 20 assists.
